Implementation of the Tracer Study for Alumni of the Master of Psychology Program at UMS
The tracer study is an evaluative instrument designed to track the career progression of alumni after completing their higher education. Through this survey, data is gathered on the transition from academic life to professional employment, including the challenges encountered during this process. The tracer study conducted this year targets graduates of the Master of Psychology Program at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta from the 2022/2023 academic year, in accordance with the standard two-year alumni tracking period.
As a study program that upholds academic integrity and a commitment to sustainable development, the Master of Psychology Program at UMS consistently conducts the tracer study on an annual basis as part of the Study Program Development Plan (RPPS).
Based on data collected through the official platform Tracer UMS, 21 out of 41 alumni have completed the questionnaire, resulting in a response rate of approximately 51%. This outcome reflects the enthusiasm and concern of alumni in providing constructive feedback for the improvement of the study program.
However, a noteworthy finding is the relatively low percentage of alumni employed within the Muhammadiyah-affiliated institutions (Amal Usaha Muhammadiyah), which stands at only around 19%. This indicates that alumni involvement within the broader Muhammadiyah organizational network remains limited and requires further attention.
Alumni Feedback for Program Development
- Establishment of community service programs involving both students and alumni within Muhammadiyah’s autonomous organizations (ortom).
- Review and refinement of the curriculum to better align with the demands of the professional field.
- Enhancement of faculty competencies, both in academic expertise and practical skills.
- Proposal to increase internet bandwidth capacity through coordination with the Postgraduate School and Faculty to support academic activities.
- Improvement of infrastructure and facilities at the Faculty level to better support teaching and research activities.
The study program welcomes the feedback provided by alumni with great appreciation and is committed to following up on these suggestions through internal coordination with the Program Study Management Unit (UPPS) and through decision-making at the program level.
